A 110 tonne class excavator does not tolerate a cooling system that is merely adequate. The EX1200-6 works in quarry and mining duty where the hydraulic circuit is putting out heat continuously, and where the radiator face is collecting fines from a blast floor. On machines of this size the fan is driven hydraulically, and the pump that meters that drive is a service item with a real failure cost attached to it.<\/p>\n

Read that hydraulic row again. Three 520 L\/min main pumps on a 567 kW engine means the cooling package is rejecting a great deal of heat, which is why a fan drive that cannot reach full speed shows up as a production loss rather than a warning light.<\/p>\n

What the unit we ship carries<\/h2>\n

A grey cast-iron single pump with a splined drive shaft, a solenoid-operated control block and a plate reading K3V63<\/strong> with control marking ESK-31\/30050<\/strong> and works number 4961. That is the K3V63S platform: 63 cm3\/rev geometric displacement, rated pressure 34.3 MPa and peak 39.2 MPa, maximum self-priming speed 2,650 rpm and maximum 3,250 rpm in Kawasaki’s published data for the K3V and K5V open-circuit family.<\/p>\n

One honest warning about this part number. Some trade catalogues list 4667614 as a fan drive hydraulic motor<\/em>, and others as a fan pump, and the number also appears in Deere-Hitachi forestry parts books. Ordering on the plate, not on the model name<\/h2>\n

On machines this large, the cooling package differs between backhoe, front-shovel and long-reach configurations, and between the -5, -5C, -5D and -6 generations. Hitachi’s own fan pump numbers in the same family include 4434308 for the EX1200-5 series, also a K3V63S unit but with a different regulator code. A pump that bolts up but holds the wrong cut-in pressure will look like a good part that failed early. Match the control code line on the plate.<\/p>\n
