It derates, the buzzer sounds and the machine stops earning. On the DX700LC the fan is driven by a hydraulic motor, the flow to that motor is metered by an electrically controlled regulator inside the fan pump, and a control strategy watches two temperatures rather than one. Three possible culprits, and the expensive one to replace by guesswork is the motor.<\/p>\n<h2>How the DX700 decides how fast its fan turns<\/h2>\n<p>Develon&#8217;s own DX700LC catalogue describes the system as Doosan Cooling Fan Control, or DCFC, which varies fan speed according to both engine coolant temperature and hydraulic oil temperature. Airflow is therefore not tied to engine rpm. An ED regulator valve meters the hydraulic oil flow inside the fan pump, so the electronic signal, the pump and the motor form a chain, and a break anywhere in it produces the same symptom on the gauge.<\/p>\n<p>That two-input logic is worth understanding before you order anything. A machine that runs cool on the coolant gauge while the hydraulic oil temperature climbs, or the reverse, is telling you which half of the system to investigate. Physically it is unmistakable once you have the old unit on the bench. A large rounded dome cover sits on the housing, quite different from the flat covers used on the smaller DX motors, with two bolt mounting ears either side of the dome base. The output shaft is long and threaded rather than splined with a retaining nut, because it carries the hub of a much larger fan. If flow is short, the fault is the pump or the ED valve, not the motor. Replace it, and sample the oil before you fit the new one.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shaft seal weeping, oil film around the hub.<\/strong> Check the case drain line for a restriction before condemning the seal. Axial piston units of this type are usually limited to around 2 bar absolute on the drain side.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fault code for the fan circuit on the monitor.<\/strong> Test the valve and its wiring before ordering a motor.
