Telehandler pumps are ordered wrong in a specific way: the model badge matches, the serial range does not. On the TH range the same pump covers several machines, but the cut-off inside one prefix range changes what you are quoted, so the serial number matters more than the model here than on most equipment.
Applicability, by prefix
Cat’s applicability data covers TH62 at 3LN 00001 and 4TM 04014, TH63 at 3NN 00001 and 5WM 06021, and the shared range 3JN 00001 to 01509 across TH63, TH82 and TH83, with TH82 continuing from 3JN 01510 and TH83 split at 3RN 00001 to 04014 and 3RN 04015 upward. All run the Cat 3054 engine. Published engine ratings for the family are 55 brake kW (73 BHP) at 2,200 rpm on the naturally aspirated arrangement and 80 brake kW (107 BHP) at 2,200 rpm on the turbocharged arrangement, taken from Cat’s engine arrangement plates.
Why a telehandler pump is not a fan pump
Some hydraulic suppliers list 122-1206 as a fan pump, and one marketplace grouping even lists it beside excavator fan motors and fan pumps. Cat’s own wording is PUMP-HYD and PUMP GP-PISTON inside the main hydraulic mounting group, with no fan qualifier anywhere in the catalogue or the parts book. On a telehandler the pump drives the boom, the carriage and the stabilisers. If your machine has a cooling complaint, this is not the part, and buying it will not help.
Failure signs
- Boom and carriage slow together, worse hot: pump wear. Test flow at working temperature.
- Drift down with the control centred: check cylinders and holding valves first, not the pump.
- Noise at idle: cavitation, look at the suction line and the tank filter.
- Oil at the shaft: case drain back-pressure, then the coupling.

Fitting and ordering
Match shaft spline, pilot, flange, port positions and the compensator setting against the removed pump. Prime the casing with clean oil before cranking, change the return filter element, keep the case drain unrestricted to tank, and target ISO 4406 18/16/13. Prove boom and carriage speed on a hot machine and record pressures before the job is closed.
Minimum order one piece. New aftermarket units carry a three to six month warranty as stated on your proforma invoice. Bench tested, photographed against your order before the wooden case closes, delivery 5 to 8 working days from payment subject to stock.
