Hitachi (Zaxis, and Deere-Hitachi builds in North America) run a temperature-controlled hydraulic fan drive on their mid and large excavators. The factory specification for the ZX470LC-6 describes a cool-on-demand, hydraulic-driven, suction-type fan with remote-mounted drive and lists a hydraulic fan reverser in standard equipment, so the fan motor and the pump that feeds it are service items in their own right rather than belt-driven accessories.
