Description
This listing carries a correction. Our incoming parts sheet described 307-3063 as a fan pump for the 416E, 416F, 422F, 428F and 434F. The component data does not support that, and publishing a fan claim on a main pump would send buyers to the wrong part, so the listing now says what the evidence says.
What the evidence supports
307-3063 is a variable displacement axial piston pump, sold by the component manufacturer as Bosch Rexroth R986110670, with the Cat remanufactured reference 20R-6569. Trade listings identify the base unit as an A10VO, which is a variable displacement axial piston family used as a main implement pump on backhoe loaders. Nothing in that chain describes a cooling fan duty, and a variable displacement A10VO in this position is driving hydraulics, not the fan.
Applicability
CAT backhoe loaders in the F family, including 415F, 415F2, 416F, 416F2, 422F, 422F2, 426F, 428F and 434F, with the C3.4, C4.4 and 3054C engine variants. Machine serial prefix decides the fitment, so send it with the enquiry rather than relying on the model badge.
Why the distinction matters commercially
A main pump and a fan pump are both variable displacement axial piston units of broadly similar size, and both can be made to fit the same mounting face by a rebuilder. The difference is in the control and in what happens when the machine works. A main pump ordered as a fan pump will deliver the wrong flow to the fan motor and the operator will blame the new part. A fan pump fitted as a main pump will starve the boom. Neither failure is covered by warranty, because the part itself is intact.
Failure signs on a backhoe main pump
- Every function slow, worse at full oil temperature: internal wear. Test flow hot, not cold.
- Noise from the pump bay and foam in the reservoir: cavitation. Check the suction hose liner and the strainer before condemning the pump.
- Pump shaft seal weeping: check case drain back-pressure first.
- One circuit weak only: look at spool valves and relief settings, not the pump.
Our pump buyer’s and specification guide explains how to compare a replacement against the original specification, and drive gear inspection covers what to check on the drive side before a new pump goes on.
Fitting and ordering
Match shaft spline, pilot, flange, port positions and control orientation against the removed pump. Prime the casing before cranking, change the return filter element, keep the case drain unrestricted, and prove pressure and flow against the machine specification before the job is closed. Minimum order one piece. New aftermarket units carry a three to six month warranty as stated on your proforma invoice. Bench tested, photographed against your order, wooden case, delivery 5 to 8 working days from payment subject to stock. The E-series pump is 350-0666 and the F2 generation is 455-7978; the range sits under CAT hydraulic pump.
