Listed for Komatsu WA380-6, WA430-6, WA430-6E0, WA450-6, WA470-6, WA470-6A, WA470-6R and WA480-6 wheel loaders. Some trade sources also attach this motor to GD-series motor graders of the same era. We publish the loader fitment as established and the grader fitment as unconfirmed, because Komatsu’s own catalogue entry we can check does not settle it. If you are buying for a grader, send the number cast on your old motor and the machine serial prefix and we will check before quoting.
What the -6 generation changes for cooling
The WA380-6 and its siblings run a hydraulically driven fan whose speed follows cooling demand rather than engine speed, which is why a heat complaint on these loaders so often has an electrical or control origin rather than a mechanical one. Before you buy a motor, spend ten minutes on the cheap checks:
- Coolant and hydraulic oil temperature at low idle and high idle, under load, written down.
- Core faces clean, and the fan actually accelerating when demand rises.
- Fault codes on the monitor for the fan circuit.

Match shaft, flange and port orientation against the removed unit. Flush if debris is present, change the return filter element, prime the casing before cranking, keep the case drain unrestricted to tank, and target ISO 4406 18/16/13. Prove full fan speed and reverse function, if fitted, before the guard goes back.
