Why the pump and motor are one job
A fan pump that has worn enough to lose volume has usually been driven hard by a circuit that was already hot, and the heat that did that has also been through the fan motor. When one unit has shed material, the other has swallowed some of it. Replacing only the failed half is the most common reason a second claim follows within a few hundred hours. The EC480E fan motor is 14641300.
Checks before ordering
- Clean the cores and re-measure temperatures at low and high idle under load.
- Sample the oil and inspect the return filter element for the material the old pump shed.
- Measure pump outlet flow and pressure at working temperature.
- Check the fan motor case drain volume, and the routing of the drain hose for restriction.

Match shaft, pilot, flange, port positions and rotation against the removed pump, prime with clean oil before cranking, change the filter element, keep the case drain unrestricted to tank, and target ISO 4406 18/16/13.
