Description
Two of the few physical figures Komatsu publishes for a fan motor are width and the catalogue item name. For 419-03-33242 the item name is Motor and the width is 140 mm. Neither tells you the displacement, and that is worth saying plainly, because buyers are often quoted a cc figure for this part that appears nowhere in Komatsu’s data.
Applicabilité
Komatsu WA320-5, WA320L-5, WA320-5L and WA320PT-5 wheel loaders. The WA320-5 generation sits between the older WA320-3 and the -6 series, and the cooling module changed across those generations, so a WA320 without the -5 suffix is not automatically covered by this number. Confirm from the housing.
What the 140 mm figure is for
It is the envelope dimension that decides whether the motor clears the shroud and lines up with the hub. When a workshop substitutes a fan motor by part number alone and the replacement is 20 mm wider, the machine runs for a week before the guard starts chafing. Measure your old unit at the same points and compare, and send us the photograph if you are unsure.
Diagnosis
- Clean the cores first. A WA320 on a landfill or aggregate site plugs its cooling pack faster than any component wears out.
- Confirm the fan actually reaches speed at high idle with warm oil.
- Measure flow at the motor ports. Short supply is the pump, not this motor.
- Correct flow with a heavy case drain is internal wear in the motor.

Montage
Match shaft, flange and port orientation against the removed unit, flush if debris is present, change the return filter element, prime the casing before cranking, keep the case drain unrestricted to tank, and target ISO 4406 18/16/13.
