- Oil heats faster than expected with clean cores, because bypassed flow is doing no useful work.
Test the cheap things first: oil level, suction restriction, filter condition, then measure the small pump’s output before touching the main pump. Montaggio
Match shaft form, pilot, flange, port positions and rotation direction against the removed pump. Gear and small supply pumps are direction-sensitive, and a reversed unit starves itself from the first revolution. Prime with clean oil before cranking, change the return filter element, clear the suction strainer, and keep the case drain unrestricted to tank. Target ISO 4406 18/16/13 for the piston components in the same circuit.
