259-0814 Hydraulic Fan Pump for CAT 345C Excavator, C13 Piston Pump

Productbeschrijving:

Part: 259-0814 hydraulic fan piston pump for CAT 345C excavators with the C13 engine, listed by Caterpillar as a Hydraulic Fan Piston Pump with the parts book item name PUMP GP-PISTON.

Fitment: 345C, 345C L, 345C UHD and the 345C material handler and mobile hydraulic power unit builds, all C13. It is not the 345B pump.

Supplied as: new HTD-brand replacement, made in China. MOQ 1 piece, wooden case, dispatch 5 to 8 working days.

Beschrijving

Caterpillar’s title for this part contains the word fan, which puts it in a small minority among the numbers we publish. That matters, because it means the function is not an inference from a supplier listing: the manufacturer states what the pump is for.

What the catalogue says

259-0814 is listed as a Hydraulic Fan Piston Pump, item name PUMP GP-PISTON. It is the supply side of the cooling circuit on the 345C, and the motor it feeds is 266-8034, a hydraulic fan slipper piston motor. We list that motor separately, and we corrected an earlier page of ours that described 266-8034 as a pump, because the numbers in this family are close enough to be transposed and the consequences are a machine sitting idle.

Applicability

Caterpillar’s data attaches 259-0814 to the 345C family with the C13 engine: 345C at TAJ, 345C L at DHP, SCN, S5M, LYS, GPH, FPC and ESD, 345C and 345C L at ELS and BWY, 345C UHD at SPC, the 345C HCR and FCR material handlers at MTE, D3S and R5K, and the 345C mobile hydraulic power units at B6N and M3E, all from 00001 upward.

Two claims you will see elsewhere are not supported. The first is 345B fitment: the 345B is a 3176C-engined machine of the previous generation with its own pump, 155-9248, and a fan motor numbered 155-9107. The second is 330D, 336D and 340D fitment, which belongs to the 259-0815 pump on the C9 platform. A supplier listing that covers all of those with one number is not reading a parts book.

Worked example: checking a prefix in practice

Here is the exact check we run when an enquiry arrives for a 345C fan pump, and it takes a workshop about five minutes:

  1. Read the machine serial. Say it is S5M01842. The prefix is the first three characters, S5M. The digits after it are the build sequence and mean nothing for fitment.
  2. Find the prefix in the parts book applicability. S5M appears under 345C L, C13 engine. That places the machine in the 259-0814 group.
  3. Check the model variant. A 345C L and a plain 345C share this pump. A 345C UHD or a material handler may differ in mounting brackets even where the pump is the same, so confirm the group number around it.
  4. Read the number off the old part. If the plate says 259-0814, you are done. If it says something else, the machine has had a conversion or the previous owner fitted a different assembly, and the plate wins.
  5. Send both photographs to us. Machine plate and part plate. We quote against those, and we hold the shipment until you confirm our photograph of the unit being packed.

Caterpillar’s own framing on this is worth repeating: parts are listed as designed to fit on the manufacturer’s specifications, with a recommendation to consult your Cat dealer before purchasing.

Machine context

The 345C is a machine of approximately 44,970 kg operating weight with a Cat C13 producing 239 kW (321 hp) net. Caterpillar’s literature for the 345D that replaced it states 18 percent more horsepower than the 345C, which corroborates the 239 kW figure and rules out the 257 kW and 345 hp numbers still floating around aftermarket data pages for this model.

Diagnosis before replacement

A fan pump that cannot deliver produces a slow fan with normal digging performance, which is the combination that gets misdiagnosed as a radiator problem. Test the command first, then measure delivery, then judge the unit. The written procedures are in our hydraulic fan pump diagnosis guide, and the control side is covered in regulator diagnosis and adjustment. If the machine has already lost a pump, inspect the drive train before fitting a replacement: drive gear inspection en transfer case failure diagnosis cover what to look for.

Fitting

Match shaft spline, pilot diameter, flange, port positions and control orientation against the removed pump. Prime the casing with clean oil before cranking. Fit a new return filter element and clear the suction strainer, holding cleanliness around ISO 4406 18/16/13 in line with Bosch Rexroth guidance for axial piston units. Keep the case drain unrestricted to tank. Prove full fan speed under thermal load and log both temperatures.

Terms

Minimum order one piece. New aftermarket units carry a three to six month warranty as stated on your proforma invoice. Bench tested, photographed against your order before the wooden case closes, delivery 5 to 8 working days from payment subject to stock. The mating motor is on our 266-8034 fan motor page, and the rest of the CAT range is under Caterpillar hydraulic fan motor.
