A double pump looks like a simple swap and is not. Two sections on one shaft means two circuits, and on these excavators one of them may be doing something other than driving the fan. Order the wrong section count and you either lose pilot pressure or leave a port open to tank.

Volvo EC330B, EC360B and EC460B excavators, described in dealer parts data as a double gear pump in the oil cooling family, grouped with 14530502, 14561970 and 14561971. Volvo’s own catalogue does not return a citable page for 14525545, so the description is dealer-established. How to check before ordering
- Count the sections on your old pump. One housing with two bolted gear cases is a double; a single case is a single.
- Photograph the port block and trace which line goes to which section.
- Read the number cast on the housing, not the label on the box it arrived in.
- Send the machine serial prefix so the parts record can be checked against your build.
Diagnosis and fitting
Wear in a gear pump shows as flow that fades as the oil heats. Test at working temperature, after cleaning the cores, and compare against the machine specification rather than against another machine of the same badge. Prime the replacement with clean oil before cranking, change the return filter element, clear the suction strainer, confirm rotation direction against the old unit, and keep the case drain unrestricted to tank.
