The 17-prefixed numbers in Volvo’s hauler catalogue sit apart from the older 11 and 15 series blocks, and buyers often assume that means a newer part that replaces the earlier one. It does not, on its own, mean anything of the kind.

Volvo’s own online catalogue does not return a citable page for 17487751, so the machine list is dealer-established rather than manufacturer-confirmed. What a number block does and does not tell you
Volvo allocates part numbers in ranges, and a 17-prefixed number usually belongs to a later design generation than an 11 or 15 prefixed one. That is a statement about when the number was issued, not about which part replaces which. Two numbers in different blocks can serve different machines, and two numbers in the same block can serve the same machine under different build specifications. The one that matters for ordering is the item your machine left the factory with, which is settled by the cast number and the serial prefix.

- Judge a hauler pump by hot cycle time, not by a cold start-up check.
- Rule out relief settings and the body holding valve before condemning the pump.
- Noise under load means cavitation: check suction line, strainer and oil level.
- On fitting, match shaft spline, pilot, flange, port positions and control orientation against the removed pump, prime with clean oil before cranking, change the return filter element, keep the case drain unrestricted to tank, and target ISO 4406 18/16/13.
