Two pump numbers, one hauler range, no supersession on record. This is the situation most often resolved by a supplier guessing, and it is the one that leaves a workshop with a pump that fits and does not perform.

Volvo A25G, A30G, A35G, A40G, A45G and A45GFS articulated haulers, described in dealer parts data as a main hydraulic pump. Volvo’s own online catalogue does not return a citable page for the number, so the machine list is dealer-established rather than manufacturer-confirmed.

Two readings are possible. Either Volvo split the range by build specification, engine option or hydraulic pressure package, in which case the serial prefix decides; or one number is a supplier’s transcription of the other, in which case they are the same part. We cannot tell which from the sources available, so we publish both as separate items and resolve the order from your machine. That is slower than a confident answer and considerably cheaper than a wrong one.
What we need to get it right
- Photograph of the number cast on your pump housing.
- Photograph of the port block and control side.
- Machine model and full serial number with prefix.
- Engine designation from the data plate.
Diagnosis and fitting
Judge a hauler main pump by cycle time, hot. Measure tip and hoist times against a known-good machine of the same model before condemning anything, then check relief settings and holding valves. On fitting, match shaft spline, pilot, flange, port positions and control orientation against the removed pump, prime with clean oil before cranking, change the return filter element, clear the suction strainer, keep the case drain unrestricted to tank, and target ISO 4406 18/16/13.
